Just completed a trailer for my screenplay Vigilance, a feature length narrative film about an eccentric and spirited octogenarian Black landlady who enlists the help of her unemployed, PTSD-suffering Gulf War vet tenant, to fight off an unscrupulous real estate developer intent upon taking her building.
Vigilance is a true-to-life gentrification story that takes place in the Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn. It’s a film is about grassroots people, with their backs against the wall, struggling to protect their homes. It’s a gritty, uplifting drama that is suspenseful and funny. Ultimately, Vigilance is the cinematic catalyst that insures an urban community’s survival.
